Braves’ tennis falls to Westwood

GLADSTONE — Alec Miron, the No. 1 singles player, managed the lone win Friday for Gladstone in a 6-1 tennis loss against visiting Westwood.

Miron started slowly and trailed 0-3. But he rallied for a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Westwood’s Brett Fredrickson.

Sean Holm, at No. 4 singles, also had a close match after being down 1-4 in both the first and second sets. He rallied for a 5-5 tie, but Westwood’s Anthoy Corveau prevailed in both sets, 7-5, 7-5.

“It was a good effort by Sean,” Gladstone coach Dan Williams said. “I was impressed by how he stayed focused and came back to make a match out of it.”
