BR-H baseball sweeps Kingsford

BARK RIVER — Coach Al Botwright is going to have a nice weekend.

Botwright can thank his Bark River-Harris baseball team after the Broncos swept visiting Kingsford 7-6 and 7-4 in Friday’s doubleheader.

“For sure, it will be a good weekend,” Botwright said. “We had two come-from-behind wins. It’s hard to beat that, especially the walk-off.”

BR-H won the first game in the bottom of the seventh inning when Logan Heim scored on a single by Jace Briggs. it capped a big comeback for the Broncos, who trailed 5-0 in the fifth inning.

BR-H scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth and three runs in the sixth before beating the Flivvers in the seventh.

Kadin Mustafa delivered two hits, two RBIs and a stolen base, Cole Ray had three hits and Briggs added two hits. The Broncos collected 11 hits in the game.

Briggs also picked up the win in relief of Sam Hall, who allowed six hits with two strikeouts. Briggs entered in the fifth and allowed two hits.

In Game 2, the Broncos trailed 4-0, but responded with a three-run fourth inning and four-run fifth inning.

Starting pitcher Matt Richer went four full innings, allowing eight hits, three runs, striking out three and walking one. Ryan Arndt pitched two scoreless innings in relief.

Heim was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Ray went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

BR-H (6-3, 2-2) will host Norway Tuesday.
