Broncos get first victory

HARRIS — Reducing turnovers and increasing passes paid off for the Bark River-Harris girls basketball team Monday night.

The Broncos played a much cleaner game and defeated Gwinn 46-32 in nonleague action for Josh Eagle’s first win at the helm.

“We are trying to recover from 50 (total) turnovers in two games,” Eagle said about losses to Ishpeming and Forest Park to start the season. “Tonight, they were patient and made the extra pass. The first two games there was no passing. We addressed our patience on offense.”

Kelsey Boucher scored 14 points and Megan Robinette added nine points for the Broncos, who led 9-5 and 23-13 at halftime. BR-H outscored Gwinn 23-19 in the second half.

Gwinn had a size advantage, but BR-H extended some three-quarter court pressure that bothered the Modeltowners.

“They were big and tough on the glass,” Eagle said. “We put a press on them and slowed them down. They missed a lot of shots inside the paint.”

BR-H (1-2) visits North Dickinson Friday.
