Braves win boys’ debut
ISHPEMING — Reese Castor poured in 27 points and Brad Spindler contributed 17 Tuesday as the Gladstone Braves opened the boys’ basketball season with a surprisingly easy 63-43 victory over Ishpeming.
Castor hit 13-of-14 free throws, including a perfect six in both the third quarter and fourth quarter.
The Braves led 30-19 at halftime after limiting the Hematites to four points in the first quarter.
Mitch Uhl had 11 points for Ishpeming, which is under the direction of first-year coach Anthony Katona.
