Not only should gladstone residents be allowed to keep chickens,
but if they don't allow ROOSTERS,
they're opening up a realyouper can of chicken-sh.it for a se.xual discrimination law suit !

I say no because we already have a problem with dog and cat owners not behaving responsibly and the policing of that is nil.

I say no ! This is why: Chickens smell, they are loud , And given time with little care and attention they can spread disease and draw rodents. Chickens belong on a farm , away from a lot of people. People have a problem keeping care of their dogs and cats around here. What would they do about their chickens if neighbors complained ? Probably nothing ! The police seem to have a problem making people live by the animal ordinances we have now. In my opinion having chickens in a town where there are close neighbors is a recipe for trouble !

As long as there is a limit on the number of chickens, no roosters are allowed, and they are not allowed to run free, I think chickens should be allowed. They eat tons of bugs, the eggs are much better than store-bought, and they are relatively easy to care for. Yes, there will be some people who will not follow the rules, or won't care for their chickens properly, resulting in problems with noise and odor. But I think they will be few and far between, and I don't think these few should be allowed to ruin it for those who want to keep a few chickens in town.

BravesRot, Bucless, and no-voice,
Sounds more like you're describing your family and your relatives !
The police have a hard time enforcing laws for them, to no avail!
Rather have chickens and roosters cleaning up the neighborhoods, than having to live alongside you and your relatives, and their perpetual cr.ap!
At least, chickens have dropping humans are able to eat!
Your worthless human relatives have little redeeming value as neighbors!
Too much ado over nothing as is pure chickenpo.op.

People should be allowed to have whatever kind of animals they want. It's called the pursuit of happiness. Ever heard of it? If chickens make you happy, get one. If weed makes you happy, smoke it. Stop trying to oppress everyone with dumb city ordinances.

Gladstone needs to worry more about fixing the city streets (other then the parade route) and enforcing ALL ordinances rather then enforcing just the ones that they see fit and harassing folks that mind there own business. If someone has chickens it is none of your business until they cause a problem or come into your yard.

No, they should not allow residents to keep chickens. If you said yes, you are a white trash hillbilly and need to move from a residential neighborhood WITH OTHER PEOPLE AROUND YOU and go live in the hills or on a farm with your farm animals. What part of "residential neighborhood" do people not understand up here?
Bal***eep--ever heard of being respectful to others around you? It's not all about YOUR happiness

It is all about government control. If you vote no for this I hope you can't wait to stand in line and have the government give you a slice of bread in you're fema camp.

too many people seem to forget about their neighbors. Will the chickens be making all kinds of racket at 4 in the morning? Will they walk around your driveway pooping everywhere? Will it cause your dog to run into their yard and tear one to shreds? There are reasons certain types of farm animals are not allowed in city ordinances. Many animals need a particular environment. Out in the country of Gladstone is great. Downtown Gladstone? Walton's Mountain it aint!

Well lets see you buy a house on a city lot and its yours right? Well, everything you do you have to have permission and if they ok it a permit, wanna build a fence, permit, wanna build a bigger garage, probably cant if you can buy a permit and build it to the size and the location the city wants, want to add on, gotta get approval is your lot big enough? if so buy a permit. You want to put up an antenna to get free tv? Cant do it its an eyesore. If by some chance you discover a valuabe mineral, its not yours someone else already owns those rights you just pay taxes on it for them. there is no freedom left in Gladstone or ne where else for that matter..anyone who thinks there is has to be a complete idiot..thank your liberal friends. my answer move out of city limits, besides who the*****needs those highway robbery city taxes anyway... seems more and more havbe the same idea.
