BryanJSebeck: I dont care what you think is irrevelant, I am talking about conditions in the U.P. idiot, not the rest of the state of mi. As for the cost of the bridge, it was reported it could cost upwards of 2 billion and the way people like you and other build things i wouldnt doubt it would cost that much. The whole subject of the poll was paying internet tax, guess what? catch me if you can and thats what i say to the state of MI. they care about people below the bride not above it!! sounds like you could go live there and be with your troll kind :)

I'll bow to your wisdom on money matters Bryan.. What do you think of the proposed, 'put the road money where it's most used' in Michigan? Snyder's latest plan to divy out the money for roads based on 'the most used roads, not the worst off' - additionally.. how do you feel about his plan to fiddle with the price of gasoline at the pump? (making more money for Michigan by charging tax based on price?) Ok, so I pay more for my gasoline driving on UP roads, but hey!.. MORE money would be spent on roads in and around Detroit and Lansing, etc.. cause, well.. thats where them roads are more used?... Now, about that Internet TAX? How do you feel about being charged by some company in China 'selling' you goods and charging you taxes based on your state? They do now, right now.. they see it as a way of getting more money from you... and you know for fact they don't send Lansing a Check for it..

Again with my dislike of the 1000 character limit.

Over half of Michigan counties reverted paved road back to gravel in 2010 due to a lack of funds to maintain a paved road surface. It's well known that we need money for infrastructure improvement and anything which brings that money to the state must be given serious consideration.

opinatedtfb, I'm going to disregard teh part of your comment which is not written in any type of comprehendable English, and focus on your attack of the new DRIC bridge crossing.

First, your costs are entirely inaccurate. The Partnership Border Study report states that the most expensive option for the bridge costs approx. $920M, not the $2B which you claim.

Secondly, any claims that the bridge will cost Michigan taxpayers a dime are completely false. Several independant fact checking groups, including the Michigan Truth Squad have found every single ad put forth by the DIBC to be completely false. Costs for the bridge will be shared by the US government, the Canadian government, and the government of Ontario. Additionally, the bridge project will bring several million in additional funds into the state for infrastructure projects.

Speaking of infrastructure, Michigan's infrastructure has been rated one of the worst in the nation for the past several years. Over half

EStacey, if only it were that simple. In reality, what the question is asking is not "Do you want to pay more taxes?" What the question asks is "Should the state enforce the laws which are already on the books and start collecting taxes that it has thus far failed to?"

When considering what the question really asks, the answer has to be yes. Of course I don't want to pay more taxes, but I want the laws of the state to be enforced.

Doesn't understand the question.. stated in plain english, this question is, "Do you want to pay more taxes".. Who answered, "Yes" to that?! Probably someone who doesn't buy from the Internet, and probably doesn't pay taxes either. There's a bunch of them out there..

Soon, purchases made on the Internet and everywhere may be subject to a Federal Tax (In Europe they call it, Value Added Tax, or VAT) - And if you live in one of those countries that has a VAT, and purchased something on the Internet using something like Pay Pal, you'll see the VAT 'added' onto the sales.. So, in reality.. we'll pay the 6 percent directly to Michigan, or 9 percent being asked for in the '9 9 9' bill being debated now. Or.. 'gag!' both!.. a nine and a six! Who will enforce it?... Well, places like Pay Pal, and Credit Card companies.. also the IRS (as they audit sales records for the location selling the goods).. But, "I always buy off shore, never American!".. Yes, and you'll probably see the heaviest of 'ADDED TAXES' and very soon too! There are ideas underway to make, "Internet Shopping" as competitive as shopping in local stores for the same goods.. Still, I voted NO on this question.. why?.. BECAUSE, anyone who answers 'yes' doesn'

What?!? Im not paying sales tax on my internet purchases, thats bull. The state needs money?? could have fooled me, they are building a 2 billion bridge to canada that wont do anyone in the UP any good and they more of my money, no way, Govenor Snyder is stupid, along with anyone else who says taxes need to be raised, bull crap, change how the state spends money in the first place and we will be fine. Sell Detroit area to foreign interests, such as Iran etc. let them buy all the delipated houses etc. Detroit ***** anyways.

Now how to avoid any future taxes on your internet purchases? Got relatives in other states where they dont tax internet purchases? have them buy what you are looking for and then give them the 6% tax plus if they use a Chase Card for you, then they get an extra 5% cash back for a total of 11% that goes to the person who's buying for you and when they are purchasing on line, they can have it shipped to you. Would rather the money goes to family than state.

7% tax on "Everything" thats what the State of Texas does and they are not hurting at all! In fact, they have so much money left over, they want to fund education to the "Illegal Immigrants" before helping a US Citizen. Just like anything else, more money you get, the more you spend. Enough is never enough.

Taxes go to the Government, I've noticed how well they spend it. You might as well flush your money down the toilet. We have seen how well that infrastructure went with 850 billion wasted on the so called stimulus. Give us a break. Those countries that have the high tax rates are all going broke or perhaps you don't read the news.

Do you two realize that the US has one of the lowest marginal tax rates in the world? Additionally, Michigan is firmly in the middle of the road in both income tax rate and sales tax rate.

It's no joke that our state is broke. The state government is missing out on millions of dollars in sales taxes because there's no tax on internet purchases. Would I prefer to not pay taxes on my online purchase? Of course. However, I recognize the need for increased income to the state government.

The idea that we're too highly taxed is a complete farce. We're not too highly taxed, we're underpaid. Our state has the 3rd highest unemployment rate in the country and there is absolutely no evidence that cutting taxes will change that. But you know what will? Building and repairing infrastructure.
