Wiffle Fest fund-raiser
Aug. 30 in Escanaba
ESCANABA - A Wiffle Fest Escanaba Softball fund-raiser will be held on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. at Lemerand Park, Escanaba.
Double Elimination Wiffle Ball Tournament is open to 10 and under, 14 and under, high school, and adult divisions (co-ed welcome).
Cost is $100 per team of five for high school and adult, and $50 per team for 10U and 14U.
Each player gets a T-shirt. Trophies will be awarded for Division Champion. Tournament issued bats and balls are to be used. There will be a home run derby, concessions, penny raffles, and more.
Registration is required by Friday, Aug. 22.

Monday - WIC and Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP);
Tuesday - Immunizations and Senior Screening (by appointment);
Wednesday - WIC;
Thursday - Family Planning;
Friday - WIC and Family Planning.

fund-raiser at the Casino
HARRIS - Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bay Area will present "Cutting Edge Dueling Pianos" on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Island Resort and Casino Convention Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. and event takes place from 7-10 p.m.
This highly interactive show will keep the audience involved from start to finish - from classic to contemporary and everything in between.
Event admission is $20. Tickets are available at: Big Brothers Big Sisters office, Fashion Lane, Gust Asp in Escanaba, and in Powers the Garceau Wenick-Kutz Magowan Insurance office. Tickets will also be available at the door.
RR Football Team
plans can drive
RAPID RIVER - A Pop-can Drive for the Rapid River Football Team will be held Thursday from 2-7 p.m., at the parking lot at the Pantry Gas Station in Rapid River.
Anyone wishing to donate any returnable bottles or cans to our program can drop them off at that time.

Breast cancer benefit
for Jeanne Murray
FELCH - A benefit dinner for Jeanne Murray will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, from noon to 6 p.m. (CDT) at the Felch Mountain Bible Church. The church is located at W4236 Washington Street in Felch.
Murray has been battling metastatic breast cancer since April and has this is her third time having breast cancer since 2005. This benefit will help defray the cost of medicine, co-pays, and travel expenses.
The dinner will be served from noon to 4 p.m. Music will be performed by the Country Hashbrowns from 1-3 p.m. and at 4 p.m. the Johnson Family Children will perform.
The benefit will also include raffles, silent auctions, 50/50, and a bake sale.

Parade floats needed
for Rock Labor Day
ROCK - Parade floats are needed for the 71st Annual Rock Labor Day Celebration in Rock on Saturday, Aug. 30. There is no entry fee and prizes will be awarded.
