Six artists from the John mARTinez Studio Art Club have been hard at work throughout the week at the U.P. State Fair, creating two works of art for the public to view and also teaching visitors the tricks of the trade. Above, Johnnie Martinez works to sculpt letters on a sand sculpture near the DNR Pocket Park entrance. A children’s sand sculpting workshop has also been available daily to give youth a hands-on experience. The club’s other project is a 3-dimensional chalk art piece drawn on the floor of the Miracle of Life building. Youth can get involved with that project by trying their hand at drawing with chalk.
