John (Jack) O’Driscoll

SUN CITY, Ariz. - John (Jack) O'Driscoll went to be with his heavenly Father on Aug. 11, 2014. He was born Oct. 26, 1924, to Nettie (McFee) and James O'Driscoll in Lincoln Park, Mich. He grew up in Lincoln Park and spent his summers in the Weatherby, Miss., area. He served in World War II as a radio mechanic in the Air Force, receiving distinguished medals for serving in Central Europe. He was honorably discharged in 1945. He worked in various occupations until he found the career of his dreams as a firefighter in Kansas City, Mo. He was quickly promoted to fire captain and in later years worked as a firefighting instructor at KI Sawyer Air Force Base, retiring in 1976. He brought his family to Grand Marais, Mich., in the 1960s. Jack loved spending time between his camp in Grand Marais, Mich., and Sun City, Ariz. He enjoyed hunting and traveling the woods in Grand Marais since the 1940s. He also loved going to the casinos and spending time with family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
