ESCANABA - Upper Peninsula International Racing Association President Tom Dubord is pleased to announce that two of the biggest families in the racing circle will be at the Escanaba Fairgrounds Saturday night.
Escanaba's Upper Peninsula International Raceway will be hosting a special event; "Race Like a Girl," featuring not only the top female drivers from Upper Michigan but female racing sensation Reagan May of De Pere, Wis will also compete in the modified division.
May who is the youngest driver to ever win in a IMCA Sport Modified at Luxemburg Speedway at 14 years old, has taken her racing career to the next level in the Tundra Asphalt Racing Series. Reagan May who many have said may be one of the top female drivers in the country, has just won her first major asphalt event at Lacrosse Super Speedway. She then followed up with a third place finish at Marshfield Speedway the following week.

Matt Peterson of Escanaba won the 600 CC Micro Sprint heat and feature, Saturday during Fan Appreciation Day at the Upper Peninsula International Raceway.
Reagan will be driving an IMCA modified that is owned by Rick Lemmen and was recently driven by NASCAR's Kenny Wallace. Reagan will also have her Tundra Asphalt Series car on display under the grandstands at UPIR for fans to get a closer look at.
Some of the local female drivers that will be featured in the "Race Like a Girl" event will include 500 Micro Sprint drivers including the current point leader and GLIR champion Kristy Peterson, race winner Justina Liss, asphalt stand out, now dirt rookie Rhianna Carne, rookie driver Stephanie Wolf and Sport 4 drivers; 15 year old Maggie Martin and third year driver Hattie Bourdeau.
Local racing star Jordan Ives of Gladstone, who also runs the Tundra Series will also be making his first appearance of the season at UPIR in a sprint car. Jordan made headlines this spring winning the Champion Sparkplug Special Video award and then winning his first feature event at Norway Speedway.
Gates open at 5 p.m. EDT with an autograph session for Reagan May from 5:15-5:45 and racing starts at 6.
