The Green Bay Jr. Phoenix 18U softball team won the ASA Northern National in Waterstown, Wis. over the weekend. Two U.P. girls from Gladstone were on the team, Christine “Tinner”Sharon, pictured left, and Sadie Strasser. The girls played teams from Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Minnesota and Alaska. The Jr. Phoenix went 7-1 in the tournament, losing one game in pool play. They won the championship with a 7-0 victory over the Quad-City Firebirds. Strasser has won nationals twice now, also winning in 2012, and Sharon has won for the third time, in 2012 and in 2011 with the Green Bay Powerhouse.
