STURGEON BAY, Wis. - Mary Bell Sharkey, 88, Sturgeon Bay, passed away at Ministry-Door County Medical Center Skilled Nursing Facility on April 26, 2014. She was born June 28, 1925, in Spalding, Mich., to Leon and Flora (Nault) Poupore.
Mary was known for her hospitality; hosting family for many occasions. Her French meat pie was legendary. Her love of decorating, crafts, and flower gardening has been passed down through the family. We are all the richer for having had her with us. Ron and Mary traveled all over the United States and loved spending time at their camp. After living in Spalding, Mich., for most of her life, Mary moved to Sturgeon Bay to be near her daughter. She continued to bring joy to her family all the days of her life.
Survivors include her daughter, Karen (John) Rackow, Sturgeon Bay; two sons, Dale (Nancy) Sharkey, Peshtigo; Donald Sharkey, Muskego; four grandchildren, Melissa (Steven) Kugel, Leslie (Jill) Sharkey, Lisa (Scott) Van Hefty, Ty (Laura) Sharkey; eight great-grandchildren, Kiala, Garrett and Nicole Kugel, Lauren and Marcus Sharkey, Abbi and Brayden Van Hefty, and Ava Sharkey; and a sister, Lenore (Robert) White.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ronald on Jan. 5, 1993, four sisters, Irene, Esther, Bernadette, Beatrice and five brothers, Clifford, Willard, Ervin, Joseph and Clarence.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, April 30, from 2 to 4 p.m. (CDT) at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding.
The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 4 p.m. with Rev. Michael Vichich officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in the Spalding Township Cemetery.
The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Sharkey family.
