Students throughout the James T. Jones Elementary School in Gladstone have been busy for the last three months as they collected can tabs as part of a contest. Paul Seger, a third-grade student at Jones, and his mother, Cathy, collect the tabs to be brought to the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee. After a suggestion from a teacher, collection containers were placed in each classroom, with the promise of a pizza party from the Segers for the class who collected the most tabs. On Monday, Robin Custance’s class was announced as the winner after collecting 26 pounds of tabs. Above, Principal Kristina Hansen shows the students a handful of the school’s total 119 pounds of tabs collected. The tabs will be delivered by the Segers in June, and will benefit the families that use the Ronald McDonald House.
