POWERS - Hard as it may be to remember now, but North Central power forward Travis Vincent was once an under-the-radar ace up the sleeve of head coach Adam Mercier's Jets.
Now he stands among the elite, having been named to the Associated Press Class D All-State Team, released today.
A virtual unknown to start the 2012-13 season, Vincent displayed a formidable knack for attacking the rim, living on the glass, scoring plenty of putbacks and using his more-than-meets-the-eye length to rack up blocks and deflections.
This season, Vincent has only improved on those skills and is a key reason why the Jets finished with a 25-1 record.
The senior forward missed two games this season with a high ankle sprain, but still averaged 16.4 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 2 blocks per game for the Jets. He also shot a superb 58 percent from the field
"Last year, he was an unknown. This year, people knew about him and keyed in on him, and he still averaged the same stats," said Mercier eariier this month, of Vincent.
