ESCANABA - Gwynlyn R. "Gwen" Guindon, 86, Escanaba, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at Bishop Noa Home.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1927, in Escanaba, daughter of Leo J. and Helma J. (Holm) Laviolette. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1945.
On Nov. 5, 1947, Gwynlyn married Marcel Guindon at St. Joseph Church in Escanaba. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Gwen worked for nine years as a cashier at Fair Store and also was an election inspector for the City of Escanaba.
She was an active member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church. Gwynlyn was a member of the choir for many years and was the Third Order of St. Francis/Secular Franciscan Formation director.
Gwen enjoyed spending time with her family, downhill skiing, aerobics, camping, swimming and taking rounds around Ludington Park.
Among survivors include her children, John R. (Liza Walters) of Gladstone, James R. (Roxane), Mary R. Pascoe, Gerard R. "Jerry" (Janis), and Joseph R. (Janet Craig), all of Escanaba; grandchildren, Jeremy and Jacob Guindon, Sarah (Eric) Mitchell, Anna and Jesse Pascoe, Jason and Jerin Guindon, and Gary Lewis; great-grandson, Joel Robert Mitchell; sister, Delores (Harrie) Markham of Gladstone; sister-in-law, Joyce Laviolette of Escanaba; and special friends, Bob Calouette of Escanaba and Debbie Gagnier of Escanaba.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marcel; she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Fish, Leo Jr. and Paul "Bud" Laviolette; and sisters, Pearl Giglia and Mary Ann Provencher.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 18, from 2 to 5:15 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 6 p.m. at St. Joseph and St. Patrick Church with Rev. Eric Olson officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bishop Noa Home Memory Care Unit in Gwynlyn's name. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the family.
