MARQUETTE - Howard H. Green, 102, of Marquette, formerly of Daggett, passed away on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans in Marquette.
Howard was born on April 22, 1911, in Stephenson Township, Mich., to the late John and Pearl (Hall) Green. On Sept. 5, 1936, Howard married the former Maycel Adams in Daggett. Maycel preceded him in death on Nov. 29, 2005.
Howard proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Howard worked in road construction, and later, as a truck driver for the Menominee County Road Commission, retiring on April 13, 1976.

Howard was a well-known baseball player and coach for the Daggett Wishigan League team. A gifted athlete, Howard enjoyed baseball, golf, bowling, and in his younger years, boxing. He further enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Above all else, spending time with his children and grandchildren is what Howard enjoyed most.
Survivors include his three sons, Mahlon (Jean), of Hartford, Wis., Terry (Sharon), of Marquette, and Larry (Sharon), of Monroe, Wis.; eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; and one sister, Katherine Foster, of Escanaba.
Howard was preceded in death by one son, John David; two grandsons, Anthony and Michael; great granddaughter, Makayla Lee; two brothers and three sisters.
Family and friends may call at Anderson Diehm Funeral Home, Stephenson, on Sunday, March 9, 2014, from noon (CST) until time of Military Rites at 1 p.m. (CST), followed by the funeral service. Pastor Jim Mathews is officiating.
