Kent D. Bush Sr.

TRENARY - Kent D. Bush Sr., 63, of Trenary, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at his home under the loving care of his family and Lake Superior Hospice. He was born in Escanaba, Mich., on June 11, 1950, to Alice Fetterhoff. Kent grew up and lived most of his life in Trenary, graduating from Trenary High School in 1969. He entered into the U.S. Army earning the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal, and was honorably discharged in November of 1971. Kent married Cora Johnson on March 22, 1975. He worked for a short time at the Long Branch Bar in Trenary, then Empire Mines before working as a custodian and bus driver for Trenary and then Superior Central Schools. Kent enjoyed cooking, baking, solitaire, and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Kent enjoyed carpentry, sharing his talents with the Presbyterian Church in Hastings, building homes for the less fortunate. He also volunteered locally, helping so many senior citizens in the Trenary area. His truck went north and south whenever someone needed a ride for doctors appointments and other needs.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Cora Bush of Trenary; children, Donna Miller of Gwinn, Rachel Bush of Gwinn, and Kent D. Bush Jr. "Junior" of Evansville, Wis.; grandchildren, Steven, Noah, Hannah, Hayden, Anton, Christina and Joey; siblings, Ruth Brisson, Margaret "Maggie" (Joe) Lasofsky, Carol Latvala, Nancy Bush, Dale Bush, Dean Bush, Darryl (Gail) Bush, and Doyle Bush; aunt, Genevieve Fettehoff; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kent was preceded in death by his mother, Alice J. Fetterhoff; nephew, Robin Brisson; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Bowerman Funeral Home in Munising. Kent's services will start at 1 p.m. with the American Legion and Vietnam Veteran Honor Guards conducting military honors immediately followed by Pastor Jim Larsen conducting a memorial service.
