Barbara Mae Jones

GLADSTONE - Barbara Mae Jones, 79, of 5399 Chaison 23.5 Road, Gladstone, died on Feb. 8, 2014, while en route to St. Francis Hospital, of apparent heart failure.

She was born March 3, 1934, in Kipling, daughter of Earl and Malvina (Bellefeuille) Davis. She married Warren Lee Jones on April 8, 1950.

She was a homemaker until 1967, when she became one of the first employees at Northern Michigan Spliced Veneers (later Besse Forest Products) in Gladstone. She would be employed there as a quality controller for nearly 30 years, until her retirement in 1996. She was also an accomplished quilter.

She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Warren; two sons, Phillip Jones of Escanaba and Andrew Jones of Gladstone; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Stephen (Betty) Davis of Grawn, Mich.; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends and co-workers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one granddaughter, five sisters and one brother.
