Gary Thomas Dahl

ESCANABA - Gary Thomas Dahl, 67, of Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at the Christian Park Village in Escanaba.

Gary was born Sept. 6, 1946, in Escanaba, the son of Vernon and Kathryn (Anderson) Dahl. He graduated from the Bark River High School in 1964 and served his country proudly from 1967 to 1971 while enlisted in the United States Army. On Oct. 11, 1975, Gary was united in marriage to Sandra Lee "Sandy" Hull at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. He was employed by the Harnischfeger Corporation for several years until they closed and as a laborer and truck driver for U.P. Concrete. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church, Swedish Club, Great Lakes Sports Club and Whitetails Unlimited.

Gary was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed going to the games with his sister. He also enjoyed hunting, reading, his involvement with the gas and steam powered engines and the Antique Village at the fairgrounds and going out to eat

Gary is survived by his sister, Kathy Dahl of Escanaba; brother -in-law, Rick (Glenys) Hull of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a niece, Kelly (Steve) Pieper of Minnesota, a nephew, Rick (Jenny) Hull of Texas; grand nieces and nephews, Sierra, Carson and Zachary Pieper and Riley and Sutton Hull; an uncle, Roy (Shirley) Dahl of Escanaba; two aunts, Elaine Krause of Bark River and Betty Morris of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; numerous cousins and special friends and his dogs, Hailey, Benji and Lilly.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Lee and his parents.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Feb. 6 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Dean Peterson officiating. A luncheon will be served following services at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Gary will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
