Patricia L. Syverson

GLADSTONE - Patricia L. Syverson, 79, 915 Michigan Ave., Gladstone, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Patricia was born June 2, 1934, in Gladstone, the daughter of James G. and Jennie A. (Anderson) Young. She was raised in Gladstone where she was 1952 graduate of Gladstone High School. Following graduation, Patricia worked at the Department of Human Services as a secretary until her marriage to John O. Syverson on June 4, 1953, in Milwaukee. They resided in Virginia while John was stationed at Quantico. They returned to Gladstone in 1954, where they raised their four children.

Patricia was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Escanaba. Her hobbies included walking, reading, crocheting, sewing and playing golf. She always looked forward to her weekly breakfast at the 4 J's restaurant in Gladstone with her friends. She enjoyed visiting and spending time with her family, and she was a wonderful and loving mom, grandma and great-grandma. Pat was an excellent cook and her family will miss her chicken and biscuits and apple pie.

Survivors include her children, Lynn (Rick) Cartwright of Gladstone, Lonnie (Bob) Moore of Neenah, Wis., John (Kathy) Syverson of Gladstone, Sue (Dan) Winker of Green Bay; brothers, Bob (Betty) Young and Willard (Pud) Young both of Gladstone; 13 grandchildren, Chad (Katie) Cartwright of Green Bay, Jaime (Brittony) Cartwright of Green Bay, Jesse Cartwright of Madison, Tenn., Chris (Beth) Cartwright of Davenport, Fla., Anna Cartwright of Gladstone, Mitchell Moore of Neenah, Wis., Tara Moore of Appleton, Katie Syverson of Gladstone, Josh Syverson, U.S.M.C., Japan, Jared Syverson of Gladstone, Bryan Winker of Green Bay, Jonathan (Ashley) Winker of Green Bay, Jenni (Rick) Wolosek of Delafield, Wis.; and five step-grandchildren, Jeremy (Ellen) Olson, James (Brandy) Olson, Heidi (Andy) Alexander, Jonas Olson and Derreck Johnson; nine great-grandchildren and an additional great-grandchild due in February; she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, her cousin Jean, and her good friends Mary, Jim and Michael.

In addition to her parents, her husband John preceded Patricia in death in 1987.

Patricia's family will receive friends on Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, from 3-6 p.m. at the New Life Assembly of God Church in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Patricia L. Syverson will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Robert Derheim officiating. Luncheon will follow in the New Life Assembly of God Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will be in the spring at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
