Phyllis Mae Duchaine

ESCANABA - Phyllis Mae Duchaine, 88, of Escanaba, passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers.

Phyllis was born May 20, 1925, in Escanaba, the daughter of Alfred and Jennie (Way) Casey. She was raised in Escanaba and was a longtime member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She was united in marriage to Thomas J. Duchaine on Sept. 28, 1946, in Escanaba. Phyllis enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed watching Green Bay Packer games with her husband and other sporting events and was an avid reader.

Phyllis is survived by two sons, Thomas K. (Deborah) Duchaine of Escanaba, Mich., and Gerald (Linda) Duchaine of Green Bay, Wis.; two daughters, Cheryl (Thomas) Bast of DePere, Wis., and Julie Duchaine of Milwaukee, Wis.; eight grandchildren, Thomas (Nadine) Duchaine, Rachel Duchaine, Angela (Kevin) Cerkas, Megan (Joshua) Gouin, Meredith Duchaine, Jodi (Eric) Little, Melissa (Brett) Francois and Michael Bast; 11 great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Claudia, Trent, Spencer, Landon, Noah, Jonah, Charlotte, Benjamin, Eli and Jack; brother-in-law, Melton Demerse; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Duchaine; her parents; two sisters, Betty (James) Balenger and Josephine Demerse.

A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the St. Thomas Catholic Church.

Phyllis will be laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.

The Duchaine family is being assisted by the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba.
