PERKINS, Mich. - Ruby Amelia Sharkey, 87, of Perkins, passed away early Wednesday morning, Jan. 8, 2014, at the Christian Park Health Care Facility in Escanaba.
Ruby was born June 11, 1926, in Perkins, the daughter of Michael and Charlotte (Reynolds) Eagle. She was raised in Brampton and attended the Brampton and Perkins Schools.
On Sept. 4, 1947, Ruby was united in marriage to Kenneth Vincent Sharkey and together the couple made their home, raised their family and spent their entire lives in Perkins. Over the course of her life, Ruby was employed as a cook for Oja's Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. Joseph Church in Perkins for many years and enjoyed crafts, painting, cooking, baking, attending family picnic gatherings and taking care of her loving husband, Kenneth. She will be deeply missed.
Survivors include: sons, Wayne Sharkey of Perkins, Mich., Doug (Sharon) Sharkey of Perkins, Mich.; daughters, Diana (Duane) Englund of McFarland, Mich., Bonnie (Gary) Bond of Perkins, Mich.; grandchildren, Ken, Duane, Heidi, Christi, Charles and Ryan; sisters-in-law, Irene Eagle of Rapid River, Mich., Susie Eagle of Brampton, Mich. Also surviving are many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Charlotte; husband, Kenneth; and brothers, John and Ralph Eagle.
Ruby's family will receive friends on Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Closing prayers will follow visiting hours at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone at 4 p.m. Ruby will be laid to rest in the Perkins Cemetery in the spring.
