MUNISING - Detectives from the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team assisted Michigan State Police Troopers Tuesday when a meth lab was discovered during a traffic stop.

Troopers from the Michigan State Police Munising Detachment conducted the traffic stop on a vehicle in Munising. Upon further investigation, components used to manufacture meth, including an active "one pot" meth lab and a hydrogen chloride gas generator, were discovered.

UPSET detectives, who are certified meth responders, seized the components, which are considered hazardous material, and transported them to a secure holding facility.

All four suspects are residents of Alger County and were lodged at the Alger County Jail on charges of attempting to manufacture meth.

This was the third meth lab UPSET detectives have responded to in three days and the second in Munising. The other meth lab recently discovered was in Marquette.

Assisting at the scene was the Munising Fire Department.
