MARQUETTE - The Marquette County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a Marquette man killed in a single snowmobile accident on New Year's Eve in West Branch Township.

Jeffery Dusseault, 45, was traveling westbound on Heidman Road around 11 p.m. Tuesday. When he reached the end of the Heidman Road at County Road 545N Dusseault failed to stop at the signed intersection to turn onto the county road.

According to officials, Dusseault crossed both lanes of traffic and struck the snowbank on the west side of the road. Both Dusseault and the snowmobile went airborne before striking a tree as they landed. Dusseault was knocked from the snowmobile by the impact and landed nearby.

Dusseault's family members located the scene of the crash when Dusseault did not arrive at his destination. Responding officers pronounced Dusseault dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Marquette County Sheriff's Office, however alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash. Dusseault had been wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Assisting at the scene were Skandia-West Branch First Responders and Fire Department, the Chocolay Township Police Department, and Marquette General EMS.
