Ignorance is alive and well

EDITOR:

David Duke, former Grand Wizard (National Director) of the Ku Klux Klan was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives and Republican executive-committee chairman in his district.

The Rev. Billy McCormack, who campaigned for David Duke in the early 1990s and was prominent in the 1992 Republican National Convention, is now the Louisiana state chair of Pat Robertson's Christian Coalition.

We all know televangelist Pat Robertson, right? On the Feb. 7, 2007, edition of The 700 Club, Robertson stated that people who have too much plastic surgery "got the eyes like they're Oriental" and stretched his eyelids in a manner stereotypical of Asians. What a guy. Oh, by the way, in 1986, Robertson announced his intention to seek the Republican nomination for President of the United States.

In 2009, Stormfront, the most popular white supremacist Internet forum had this post "We need a relevent [sic] transitional envelope-pushing flyer for the masses.

Take these Tea Party Americans by the hand and help them go from crawling to standing independently and then walking toward racialism." The founder and publisher of Stormfront.com is Don Black. By the way, he worked on David Duke's unsuccessful campaign for Louisiana State Senate, and won Duke's trust, moving up to become Duke's right-hand man, later also becoming the Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

In 2010, Los Angeles lawyer William Daniel was attempting to fill the white supremacist void with the formation of a fledgling political party, the American Third Position, or A3P, with the aim of uniting disaffected racists.

Its stated mission: to "represent the political interests of White Americans." Steve Smith, who was listed as the State Chairman of A3P, and a white nationalist with a violent past, was elected to the Republican Party committee for a county in northeastern Pennsylvania.

On Feb. 19, 2012, the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) hosted a panel on "The Failure of Multiculturalism: How the pursuit of diversity is weakening the American Identity." The highly anticipated panelist was Peter Brimelow, founder of VDARE.com, a White Nationalist website, run by Brimelow, which frequently publishes the works of anti-Semitic and racist writers. Messrs. Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, Speaker of the House John Boehner and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were all scheduled to appear.

On Aug. 29, 2012, Republican Senator Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.) said, "The demographics race we're losing badly. We're not generating enough angry white guys to stay in business for the long term."

And, Mr. Duke claimed that thousands of Tea Party activists had urged him to run for president in 2012. And then, in December 2013, Fox News Host Megyn Kelly stated on the air "For all you kids watching at home, Santa just is white, I mean Jesus was a white man too. He was a historical figure, that's a verifiable fact, as is Santa - I just want the kids to know that."

Sadly, it's their perception of "White Christmas". Ignorance is alive and well.
