Choirs combine talent for annual Christmas Concert

ESCANABA - The eleventh annual Community Christmas Concert - A Festival of Choirs - will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish Church.

Performing will be choirs of six area churches, including: First Presbyterian, Immanuel Lutheran, and St. Anne and St. Joseph & St. Patrick Catholic churches, all of Escanaba; Wilson Seventh-day Adventist; and Memorial United Methodist of Gladstone. Also performing will be the Bay de Noc Choral Society and Remnants Barbershop Chorus.

"This will be the tenth time this special Community Concert will be held," said Loretta DeChristopher, a long-time participant in the annual concert. "Each year it grows in excitement and the Christmas spirit.

John Ignatowski, director of Sacred Music and Liturgy for St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish in Escanaba, will lead the combined choirs in the annual Community Christmas Concert on Sunday.

Each of the choirs will individually perform two songs of faith and the Christmas season, and then all the singers will join together for two special numbers.

A time of fellowship and Christmas treats will follow the concert.

There is no admission charge, however, a free-will offering will be taken to help defray expenses and to support the individual choirs.
