T. Marcine ‘Marcy’ Smith

ESCANABA - T. Marcine "Marcy" Smith, 77, of 533 N. 20th St., Escanaba, passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, at her home in Escanaba. She was born Feb. 29, 1936, in Trigg County, Ky., and was the daughter of Pete and Ora (Tucker) Shaw. Marcine graduated from Clarksville, Tenn., in 1953. The former Marcine Shaw met Jack Smith, while he was serving in the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, Ky., and married him on Sept. 4, 1956, in Clarksville, Tenn. They moved back to Escanaba in 1956. Marcine was employed as a checker at Elmer's and later at Wally's United Foods until her retirement in 1985. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. Marcine was an avid golfer and bowler. One of her greatest joys, and the highlight of her day, was to have coffee with her friends at the Wal-Mart McDonalds in Escanaba. Marcine is survived by husband, Jack; daughters, Debbie Smith Lynn of Lansing, Wendy (Tom) Way of Wells; five grandchildren, Amy, Julie, Trudi, Tressa and Tyler; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Ann Shelby Juanita McKinney and Sue Smith, all of Tennesee.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Norman and sister Angela.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Friday, Nov. 29, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of T. Marcine "Marcy" Smith will be held at noon Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Swillum officiating. A luncheon will be served following the funeral services at the Calvary Baptist Church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
