ESCANABA - A man who assaulted a fellow resident at an adult foster care home in Gladstone earlier this month pleaded guilty to a lesser charge on Monday, according to Delta County District Court officials.

Theodore Louis Frederick II, 40, was arrested Nov. 18 on a felonious assault charge after he assaulted an 18-year-old male at Country Acres Adult Foster Care in Brampton where they both resided. The incident occurred around 1:22 a.m.

The two men were having a verbal confrontation when Frederick allegedly went after the victim with a kitchen knife, according to Gladstone Public Safety. The victim received minor superficial wounds which did not require medical treatment, said police.

During a plea hearing in district court on Monday, Frederick pleaded guilty to aggravated assault which carries a maximum sentencing of one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 7. Frederick was released from jail and placed in a different foster home.
