BARK RIVER - Loren Daniel Potter, 77, of Perronville, and a former Palmer resident, died Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 20, 2013, at the Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain where he had been a patient for three days surrounded by his family.

Loren was born July 23, 1936, in Menominee, to Norris and Hazel (Farr) Potter. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 11, 1959, until Feb. 14, 1962. Loren married Janet Romens on Aug. 27, 1960. They started their family and lived in Menominee where Loren worked as a mechanic. They moved to Palmer in 1972, where Loren worked for Richmond Township as a maintenance mechanic until his retirement. Loren served as a volunteer fireman for the Palmer Fire Department, an EMT and ambulance driver (his favorite). He was a member of the Richmond Township Community Club, the Negaunee Elks and Bark River Lions Club where he was very involved with the Off Road Races.

Loren loved to hunt, play (and cheat on Shirley) cribbage, and played on a pool team. But his favorite thing was spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and family.
