The letter to the editor entitled "Stop Attacks on Affordable Care Act" in the Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 edition is something that I feel compelled to answer.
First, I would like to say that I think it is wonderful that you had such a good experience in getting free health care in such a short time. Since enrollment, Oct. 1, 50,000 people have had success in getting Obamacare, while thousands of people have had their insurance cancelled because of their policies do not comply with Obamacare rules and regulations. These people, including myself, believed that if we were happy with our policies, we could keep them. Unfortunately, that was not the case.
People have found that instead of our polices being reduced by $2,500, they were increased. Many people have complained that their co-pay was huge. One person said their co-pay went to $10,000 and their premium more than tripled with less insurance coverage. This is happening to thousands of people. Rural hospitals will be closing down because of the huge cuts to Medicare. It is predicted that there will also be a wide spread doctor shortage as high as 40 percent and you say that Obamacare is the way to go.
One other thing is that unelected government officials (Healthcare Commissars) will be making the decisions about your healthcare. Where is your doctor? Please read the Affordable Care Act for yourself and come back and say, everything is going to be great. Please take note of HR46 as one example. One last comment, which I find reprehensible, is your referring to President Obama's skin color. It seems that if you had to mention such a thing, when health care affects everyone of all races, that you are indeed the person who has a problem with the color his skin."
