BARK RIVER - Clarence Clyde Konas, 89, formerly of Escanaba, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at Emmons Adult Care Home in Bark River.
He was born on Nov. 1, 1924, in Milwaukee, son of Martin and Rose Konas.
Clarence served in the U.S. Coast Guard Merchant Marine during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was awarded a Victory Medal, a Presidential Testimonial Letter, Merchant Marine Emblem and Honorable Service Button.

While residing in Milwaukee, Clarence worked for General Electric.
On Nov. 5, 1955, Clarence married Margaret L. Rozich in Escanaba.
Clarence was employed with Harnischfeger for 24 years until their closure in 1983.
He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.
Clarence was an avid bowler, bowling league five nights of the week when he lived in Milwaukee. He enjoyed golfing at the Highland Golf Course for many years and following his retirement he was an active volunteer as a scout master for the Boy Scouts and was groundskeeper for many years at Memorial Field. As a Green Bay Packer fan, Clarence enjoyed when his Packers defeated his wife Margaret's team, the Minnesota Vikings.
Among survivors includes his sister of Milwaukee; a cousin, William L. Ringuette; and special friends, Tim and Fay Shea and Doug and Mel Beauchamp.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret.
Visitation will be on Friday, Nov. 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church. The Delta County Veterans Council will have military rites at 10 a.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Eric Olson officiating. A meal will follow in the church hall.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
