Fire destroys building in Wells Township

ESCANABA - A pole building in Wells Township was destroyed by fire overnight, according to Escanaba Public Safety officers.

Officers were called to 4203 U.S. 2 and 41 in Wells Township about 10:14 p.m. Tuesday. A passerby saw a metal pole building there on fire and called authorities. Officers found a large amount of smoke and flames coming from the structure. They remained at the scene for five hours to fully extinguish the fire.

The building was a total loss and the cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

Escanaba Public Safety was assisted at the scene by Ford River Township firefighters, Delta County Sheriff's Department and Rampart EMS.
