Hittin' the books in Hannahville

November 9, 2013
Daily Press
Fun reading activities took place during Family Literacy Night at the Hannahville Indian School earlier this week. The annual event is sponsored by Family and Child Education (FACE), a program unique to Native American reservations in rural areas. Hannahville has the only FACE program in Michigan, providing GED education, life-long learning for parents, education for children age 3-5, and home visits on child development to prenatal mothers and parents of kids under age 3. Above, Head Start teacher Stacy Reath reads the book “Woolbur” to Mercedes Meshigaud, 3, at left, and Brittany Thunder, 5. (Daily Press photo by Jenny Lancour)
