James R. Law

WELLS - James R. Law, 81, of 6736 N. 3rd St., Wells, passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at the Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers. He was born on June 15, 1932, in Detroit and was the son of Hugh and Bernice (Wright) Law.

Jim attended school in Plymouth, Mich., and was a graduate of Plymouth High School Class of 1950. Following high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge. He then began his employment career with the Livonia Police Department and in 1957 graduated from the Michigan State Police Academy. Jim was appointed to many different State Police Posts throughout his career both in the Lower and Upper Peninsulas. He worked at the L'anse and Stephenson Posts, and later transferred to the Department of State as chairman of the License Appeal Board serving the Upper and Northern Lower Peninsulas, retiring on June 1, 1984.

On May 14, 1966, James R. Law married the former Rose Mary Conners in Menominee.

Jim was of the Presbyterian faith. In his spare time he enjoyed playing the bagpipes, performing for many special occasions including; weddings, funerals, and as a member of several different bands. He also liked exploring on his computer.

James R. Law is survived by his wife Rose Mary of Wells.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hugh and Bernice.
