FORD RIVER - Harry Roy Nelson, 88, Ford River Township, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at Marquette General Hospital. He was born on Feb. 20, 1925, in Escanaba, the son of the late Alfred and Mary (Buske) Nelson. On Feb. 12, 1948 he married the former Kathryn McCarthy at St. Joseph Parish.
Harry has worked in the farming and construction fields in the past, but spent most of his life as a logger. He is a former owner of H R Nelson & Sons Logging. Harry was a member of the U.P. Steam and Gas Club. He loved spending time with his grandchildren teaching them the way different things were done in the past.
He is survived by his three children, Stephen (Mary Ann) Nelson, Mary (Josh) Busick and Lauren (Dr. Mike) Crall; six grandchildren, Gerald (Beth) Busick, Dennis Busick, Michael (Tracy) Busick, Cheryl (Charles) Detiege, Daniel (Anna) Nelson and Sara (Matt) Lacrosse; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers-in-law, Robert and Kenneth McCarthy; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Robert Nelson; five brothers, Frank, Herman, Earl, Carl and Harold Nelson; and two sisters, Esther Oshe and Nellie Smith.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the Allo Coolman Funeral Home in Escanaba.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Parish with Fr. Eric Olson officiating. Burial will take place on the Holy Cross Cemetery.
