Police car involved in fatal accident

MANSFIELD TOWNSHIP - A fatal car-pedestrian crash involving a police vehicle from the Iron County Sheriff's Department occurred Thursday, according to Michigan State Police at the Iron Mountain Post.

The crash occurred at approximately 11:05 a.m. on M-69 and Hope Mine Road in Iron County's Mansfield Township. The pedestrian, Harold Foucault, 91, was a Crystal Falls resident. No further information will be available as the crash remains under investigation, troopers said.

Assisting at the scene of the crash was the Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Division, Crystal Falls Police and Fire Department, DNR Conservation Division, Northstar EMS, and Michigan State Police Advanced Accident Investigators.
