Escanaba's Early Childhood Program is nourishing the minds and bodies of young children at risk. The Altrusa Club is adding their support with weekly programs in several of the classrooms. Retired school librarian and Altrusan Literacy chair, Frances Michaels, is pictured with the children of Pattie Powell's PreK class showing off their click beetles inspired by the book, "The Very Clumsy Click Beetle" by Eric Carle. Michaels says "Sharing picture books and using them as a springboard for learning is my passion. These curious youngsters eagerly listen and participate fully in the experience. It is a privilege to be able to volunteer in their classrooms and be a part of their learning. Their dedicated teachers have set up exciting learning environments for these children."
