ROCK - Myron Paul Maki, 57, of Rock, passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013, at the University of Michigan Medical Care Facility, due to complication of a heart attack.
Myron was born May 5, 1956, in Escanaba, the son of Eino and Shirley (Derouin) Maki. He was raised in Rock and graduated Rock High School in 1974. Myron went on to enroll at Michigan Tech University, where he attended for two years before transferring to Ohio meat cutting school to achieve his butcher's license. Following graduation, Myron went to work as a butcher at K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base. Upon the closure of K.I. Sawyer, Myron transferred to Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Mt. Clemens, Mich., working until his retirement in 2011. Myron was a member of the Rock Bible Chapel. In addition, he enjoyed reading, photography, bird watching, feeding his deer and cheering for the Green Bay Packers.
Myron is survived by his mother, Shirley Maki; daughters, Heather (Matt) Warren of Kalamazoo, Rachel (Zachary) Beeksma of New Jersey; granddaughter, Alyssa Warren; sister, Joan Smith of Cornell; nephew, Jim Smith.

Also surviving are numerous cousins.
Myron was preceded in death by his father, Eino Maki; maternal grandparents, Aime (Blanche) Derouin; paternal grandparents, Urho (Anna) Maki.
Myron's family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Rock Bible Chapel in Rock.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Myron Paul Maki will follow visitation at 3 p.m. at the Rock Bible Chapel with Pastor Mike Lepisto officiating.
Myron will be laid to rest in the Rock Cemetery following funeral services.
