William G. ‘Bill’ Lancour

ESCANABA - William G. "Bill" Lancour, 48, of 321 1st Ave S., Escanaba, passed away on Wednesday evening, Oct. 9, 2013 at his home following a lengthy illness with Crohn's Disease.

He was born on April 21, 1965 in Escanaba, son of Francis "Bill" and Elizabeth "Liz" (Dugas) Lancour. Bill attended Holy Name Grade School and graduated from Escanaba High School in 1983. He later attended Northern Michigan University. He resided most of his life in Escanaba.

Bill attended flight attendant school and worked for North Central Airlines. With his illness, the flying was difficult so he found other employment. He managed a Pizza Hut in Lower Michigan, drove trucks for Schneider National Incorporated out of Green Bay, and was also employed with Big Buck Brewery in Gaylord. Bill was employed by and was also a volunteer for First United Methodist Church in Escanaba.

Bill was an active volunteer for the Delta Animal Shelter and St. Vincent de Paul Society. He was baptized Catholic.

Bill lived a simple life, loved with the heart of a child, and took care of others first. A special thank you to all those who loved him back!

His survivors include: his daughter, Alexis Lancour, who is currently a senior at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich.; his parents, Bill and Liz Lancour of Escanaba; special friend, Krystal Poquette of Escanaba; brother, Mick (Terri) Lancour of Escanaba; two sisters, Deb (Bill) Michaels of Gaylord and Lynn Lancour (Paul Sauter) of Green Bay; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Bill is also survived by his best buddy, Axel. Together they gave each other the gift of companionship and unconditional love that could never be replaced and is a most precious gift given from God.

Visitation will be on Monday, Oct. 14 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home with Deacon Terry Saunders officiating. A meal will follow in the hall of St. Thomas Church.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed in Bill's name to the Delta Animal Shelter, 6685 N. 75 Drive, Escanaba. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Lancour family.
