Ida M. Srnka

WILSON - Ida M. Srnka, 91, Wilson, passed away Sunday morning, Oct. 6, 2013, at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility in Powers, where she resided for the past eight years. She was born on Jan. 30, 1922, in Spalding, the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Groleau) Harris.

Ida enjoyed everything pertaining to the outdoors. She was a dairy and beef farmer her entire life. Ida spent many hours working in her vegetable and flower gardens and was an avid hunter and marksman. In her 80s, she was featured on Buck LeVasseur's "Michigan Outdoors" with her last trophy buck. Ida's greatest joy was spending time with her devoted family. Even into her 90s, she was always ready and willing to give a "helping hand".

She is survived by her seven children, Ivan (Shirley) Gagne, Ruth (Vernon) Sundquist, Gerald (Darlene) Gagne, Dwight (Kathryn) Gagne, Judy (Henry) Leeseberg, Pam (Jim) Folcik and Ann (Ronald) Raspor; one sister, Agnes Pirlot; nineteen grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ida was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; seven brothers and sisters and a granddaughter.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. (CDT) on Wednesday Oct. 9, at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. (CDT) on Wednesday at church with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. A luncheon will follow Mass in the church parish hall. Burial will take place in the Spalding Township Cemetery.

The Allo Coolman Funeral Homes are assisting the Srnka family.
