MENOMINEE - Justin Brilinski threw for three touchdown passes in the third quarter Friday night as the top-ranked Menominee Maroons handed the Escanaba Eskymos a 44-0 football loss.
The victory enabled the Maroons to qualify for the state playoffs and improve to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the Great Northern Conference.
Menominee, which scored a safety in the second quarter, led 16-0 at halftime
Brilinski fired a 30-yard TD pass to Shaun Sullivan early in the third for a 23-0 cushion.
The junior tailback/quarterback then added TD aerials of a yard to James Brown and 29 yards to Devon Harris to put the Maroons up 37-0 after the third stanza.
Collin Nerat ended the scoring on a two-yard run with 48 seconds left in the game.
The Eskymos (1-5 overall, 1-1 GNC) moved the ball inside the Menominee 20-yard line early in the second frame.
Menominee, which was leading 14-0 at the time, didn't allow the Eskymos to penetrate any deeper into its territory.
The Maroons led 7-0 after the first quarter.
Esky hosts Gladstone (0-6) Friday at 7 p.m.
