Leatrice M. Peacock

ESCANABA - Leatrice M. Peacock, 82, of 314 North 19th St., Escanaba, passed away in her sleep early Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013 at her home in Escanaba after a gallant intermittent 12-year battle with cancer.

She was born July 4, 1931 in Escanaba and was the daughter of Henry and Filicate (LaLande) Drossart. Leatrice graduated from Rapid River High School in 1949 and was united in marriage to Edwin Peacock on July 3, 1949.

Leatrice and her mother owned and operated Jensen's Pasties in Escanaba for 27 years. Family was extremely important to Leatrice and she loved putting on family meals and would always lend a helping hand. She was an amazing seamstress, machine embroiderer, loved to cook, cake decorate and was a crafter and artist. Leatrice was happy to play the spoons or washboard with her husband Ed or son Mark at local nursing homes or family jams. Leatrice took her first Jet Ski ride at age 70 and even took a ride last July 4th on her 82nd birthday.

Leatrice M. Peacock is survived by: her husband, Edwin; children, Karen Peacock of Escanaba, Joseph (Nancy) Peacock of Menominee, Mark (Lynn) Peacock of Gladstone, Laura (Robert) Manninen of Escanaba; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers, Andrew (Mary) Drossart of Lakeland, Fla., Paul (Barb) Drossart of Manistique; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers Carl, Francis and Bud and sisters Mae and Audrey.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Leatrice M. Peacock will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steven Patrick officiating. Burial will take place in the Fernwood Cemetery.
