POWERS - To say it has been a good week for North Central's volleyball program would be an understatement.

After knocking off Bark River-Harris 3-1 (25-17, 25-22, 12-25, 25-20) and Carney-Nadeau 3-0 (25-8, 25-19, 25-20) on Tuesday, the Jets improved to 3-0 on the week, all while only dropping two sets.

"For us, for this school, for how many times we've gone to games and we're always playing five games if we ever won, and to go three-and-out with some of these teams lately is huge," said Jets head coach Andy DeBock. "It gives new confidence for these girls."

The Jets (6-3) knocked off Mid Peninsula 3-1 on Monday night and DeBock said the momentum from that win carried over in the first set against Bark River-Harris.

"I explained to them right when we came out tonight, we've got to start off hot, they understood and they came out hot tonight," DeBock said. "They took the first two games from Bark River, we got a big lead, we stuck with them and stayed motivated and they did what they had to do."

North Central had a well rounded match, led by Paige Whitens' 14 kills, seven digs, three blocks and three aces. Morgan Wells added 10 kills, six digs and one ace. Kennedy Faccio contributed 23 assists, while RayAnn LaFord had eight digs, three kills, and five aces.

"Everybody on this team today stepped up," DeBock said. "They played the positions they covered and they did what they had to do."

Bark River-Harris handed the Jets their only setback of the night, beating them 25-12 in the third set.

Broncos head coach John Jorasz said the third set was encouraging but he was disappointed in the overall effort from his squad.

"Third set we did great, we took control of it, kept it throughout the whole time and the girls were having fun there," Jorasz said. "As a team we're capable of playing a lot better volleyball then we did tonight. One thing leads to another when the team starts getting down in one area or another and it starts to fall apart."

After dropping the first match to North Central, the Broncos were defeated by Carney-Nadeau 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 15-20, 25-18).

In two matches the Wolves were led by Janel Dani, who recorded 20 kills and 13 digs. Andrea Dani added 39 assists, nine digs, two kills and two aces. Morgan Eichhorn chipped in 10 digs and seven assists while Katie Sivula has 15 digs and nine kills. Cassidy Parrett added 18 digs and seven kills. Becca Essa had five digs, four kills and three aces and Alisson Theoret had 14 digs.

"I thought we played well, we struggled a little bit on serve, receive," said Wolves head coach Steve Kedsch. "They had a few runs on us that one match. We had a few more unforced errors then I would like to see but the kids played hard, they worked through it."

In the last match of the night Carney-Nadeau squared off with North Central, as they were swept 3-0. In the third game, the Wolves took a 13-10 lead before Morgan Wells fired off a seven point service run to give the Jets the push they needed to end the night.

"Morgan stepped up big during that last game and that's what gave us the edge and then they fed off that," DeBock said.

Against Carney-Nadeau the Jets were paced by Whitens with 14 kills, seven digs, three blocks and three aces. Wells added 10 kills, six digs and one ace and Faccio had 22 assists and three aces.

North Central has now won four games in a row. They host Stephenson on Thursday.

Bark River-Harris was led by Abbie Anziano who recorded 16 kills in two games. Mallory Petersen added 18 assists, five kills and four blocks. Emily Johnson chipped in nine assists, two kills, two blocks, and once ace. Savanna Stenberg had eight kills and two aces.

In jayvee play it was Bark River-Harris winning 25-8 and 25-7 over Carney-Nadeau. The Broncos also beat North Central 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 15-8).

The Broncos are back in play on Thursday as they travel to Rapid River.

Carney-Nadeau is also on the road Thursday as they take on Forest Park.
