RAPID RIVER - Lillian M. Olson, 96, of Rapid River, passed away peacefully Thursday afternoon, Sept. 26, 2013, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba.

Lillian was born May 17, 1917, in Ensign, the daughter of Fred and Ruth (Wilson) Gorham. She was united in marriage to Robert J. Olson Sr. and together the couple made their home and raised their son, Robert Jr., in Ensign. Lillian was a lifelong, devoted member of the Congregation Church of Rapid River. She spent many volunteer hours at the Congregational Church, and enjoyed her time with her church family. Lillian loved to square dance, go on vacations and simply spend time with her family. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include: grandchildren, Mark (Becky) Olson of Wisconsin, Randy (Diane Carlson) Olson of Gladstone, Shelley (Mitch Tabalske) Olson of Green Bay, Wis., Robert S. Olson of Green Bay, Wis.; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Lindsey, Emily, Tucson, Dempsey, Ryan and Alex; great-great-grandchildren, Colton, Sierra and Harper Lee.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Ruth, husband Robert J. Olson Sr. and her son, Robert J. Olson Jr.

Lillian's family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, from noon to 2 p.m., at the Congregational Church in Rapid River. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Lillian M. Olson will follow visiting hours at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, at the Congregational Church, with Pastor William Rafuse officiating. Lillian will be laid to rest in the Rapid River Cemetery following funeral services. Luncheon will follow committal rites at the Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. Memorial contributions, in Lillian's name, may be directed to the Delta County Cancer Alliance. Envelopes will be available at the Congregational Church and the Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Olson family with arrangements. Messages of condolence, to Lillian's family, may be offered online at
