William A. Menard Sr.

ESCANABA - William A. Menard Sr., 86, 825 N. 18th St., Escanaba, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at his home.

He was born on July 7, 1927, in Escanaba, son of Jeffrey and Regina (Groos) Menard.

William attended Escanaba schools.

William served in the U.S. Navy.

On Nov. 25, 1944, William married Elaine Scheer at St. Joseph Church.

He was self-employed in his younger years and also worked for Olsen & Flath and Brandt Construction.

He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

William enjoyed hunting, cribbage, golfing, going to camp and he loved to work. He was a member of BAC and American Cribbage Congress.

Among survivors include his wife, Elaine of Escanaba; two sons, William (Cindy) of Sault Ste Marie, Mich., and Tom Menard of Escanaba; grandchildren, Scott and Todd Menard and Kyle and Allison (Paul); and great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Billy, Jordan, Jackson, Olivia, Madison, Alexandria, Emma and Brady.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home in the dining area.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Menard family.
