EDITOR'S NOTE: Gov. Rick Snyder issued a special tribute to the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight. This tribute was read on the flight Wednesday by Snyder's aide, Jason Allen.
ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF MICHIGAN
I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby pay special tribute to the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight Program LET IT BE KNOWN, That it is my distinct honor to recognize the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight program and the participants of Mission V and join in celebrating the "Welcome Home" event at the Delta County Airport on September 18, 2013.
The Upper Peninsula Honor Flight is a part of the Honor Flight Network: a non-profit organization that was created specifically to honor America's veterans for their countless sacrifices. The mission of the U.P. Honor Flight is to transport U.P. World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. World War II veterans, senior veterans, and terminally ill veterans are given the highest priority when it comes to the flight missions. This special "Tour of Honor" for Mission V will include airfare, meals, a deluxe tour bus, and various other items, all at no cost to the veteran. At the end of the flight, the veterans will be welcomed and honored by family, friends, and guests at the "Welcome Home" celebration at the Delta County Airport.
I would like to thank the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight program for honoring the Upper Peninsula's deserving veterans and providing them with this unique opportunity. I would also like to commend all of the participating veterans of Mission V, and thank them for their dedicated service and commitment to our state and our country. Please accept my best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable gathering.
IN SPECIAL TRIBUTE, and on behalf of the State of Michigan, this document is signed and dedicated to the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight program and the Mission V participants. I sincerely thank this outstanding organization and its participants for their commitment and devotion to our country and the State of Michigan.
