Miss Michigan Teen USA — Iris Robare
The new Miss Michigan USA is Elizabeth Ivezaj of Macomb, who will be representing Michigan in the Miss USA Pageant in the spring of 2014.
The daughter of Laura and Craig Karttunen of Gladstone, Iris currently attends Gladstone High School where she is involved in cross country, track, and Youth in Government, where she plans to run for governor this year. She was also a member of the Junior National Honor Society, and president of her ninth-grade class.
Iris' main platform as Miss Upper Peninsula Teen USA was to spread knowledge and awareness of "Mental Health Issues in Teens." She even raised over $400 by walking in the Labor Day Mackinaw Bridge Walk for Mental Health America.
Iris hopes that, among the charities she will be supporting and issues she will bring attention to as the new reigning Miss Michigan Teen USA, she will also continue to bring attention to Mental Health Awareness throughout her year's reign.
