Dorothy Ann ‘Dot’ Froberg

RAPID RIVER - Dorothy Ann "Dot" Froberg, 80, of Rapid River, passed away Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital, in Escanaba.

Dorothy was born in Gladstone, June 26, 1933, daughter of Lorin and Ethel (Carlson) Rinard. She was raised in Osier (North Delta) and graduated from Rock High School in 1951. Dorothy raised five children, and worked for many years as a unit secretary at St. Francis Hospital. Dorothy enjoyed life and loved to be around her children and grandchildren. Family was very important to her, both her work family and her home family. She was a member of the Rapid River Congregational Church where she served on the Ladies Fellowship until she became ill. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, making baskets and playing the slot machine at the casino!

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Richard; children, Jacquelynn (James) Quarfoot-Wilson of Houghton, Barbara Quarfoot of Gladstone, Lori (Kirk) McCarty of North Fond du Lac, William Quarfoot of Trenary, Penny (James) Pavlat of Rapid River; loving grandchildren, Scott, Jamie, Joshua, Amy, Steven, Jim, Nicole, Danielle, Rachel, Matthew, Zachary, Katrina and Dominique Jo; loving great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Andrew, Collin and Mykenzy; sisters, Delores (George) Seaman of Valrico, Fla., Patricia Maxwell of Pinehurst, N.C.; Also surviving are nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

In addition to her parents, Lorin and Ethel, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother in law, Walter Maxwell.

Dorothy's family will receive friends on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dorothy Ann "Dot" Froberg will follow visiting hours on Friday at 6 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone with Rev. William Rafuse of the Rapid River Congregational Church officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Rapid River Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. Dorothy will be laid to rest on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Rapid River Cemetery. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Froberg family with arrangements.
