MUNISING - The Mid Peninsula Wolverines showed some improvement Wednesday night, but it wasn't enough to prevent them from dropping a 3-1 (25-11, 20-25, 25-19, 25-16) volleyball decision to the Munising Mustangs.
"We worked on our new serve receive technique and covered between the hitters and blockers better this time," said Mid Pen coach Traci Lyle. "Overall, we played much better than we did Monday (in a 3-0 loss to Carney-Nadeau). In Saturday's tournament (Munising Invitational), we noticed Munising tips quite a bit. We were better prepared for that this time. We also started playing together as a team. We felt we had a little bit of momentum after the second set."
Lyle said the Wolverines showed the most improvement on defense where they were led by Hunter Branstrom, who collected 20 digs. Kelsey Shope added 15. Kaitlyn Klenow and Elle Lancour had 14 each and Marissa Westlund finished with 13.
