BARK RIVER - Wennell and Donna Tourangeau marked their 50th wedding anniversary with a celebratory service that took place at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Bark River. Celebrants were Revs. Darryl Pepin and Paul Schiska. Rev. Pepin was a Brother at Holy Name School when Wennell attended school and graduated.
A reception for 350 family members and friends, hosted by the couples children, followed at the Ford River Township Hall.
Wennell and the former Donna Picard were married June 29, 1963, at Sacred Heart Church in Schaffer. Attending the couple were: maid of honor, the late Margaret Guenette, cousin of the bride; best man, Wayne Tourangeau, brother of the groom; Winifred Touran-geau, bridesmaid, sister of the groom; and Joe Picard, groomsman, brother of the groom. Warren Tourangeau, brother of the groom, was the ring bearer, and flower girl was Linda Blanchette, a friend of the family.

For the anniversary celebration, Donna wore a necklace and earrings that were a gift from her new husband on their wedding day, and she carried a blue handkerchief that once belong to Wennell's late mother.
Wennell was employed as a logging truck driver until his retirement in 2005. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and, in his spare time, he enjoys flower gardening, fishing and NASCAR. He is also a former board member and racer of the Stock Car Association.
His wife retired in 1997 from her secretarial position. She enjoys playing cards, gardening and canning. She has volunteered as a Foster Grandparent for the past nine years and is a former golfer and 1994 club champion at the Highland Golf Club.
Both Wennell and Donna are members of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
The couple are the parents of four children: Kevin (Cheri) Tourangeau of Orland Park, Ill.; Steve (Carrie) Tourangeau of Howell, Mich.; and Wendi (Doug) Matthews and Colleen Burnard, all of Escanaba.
They also have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
